What Is FlixQ?
FlixQ is a different kind of videosharing service. We make video sharing easy. You can download, watch, and share movies right from your favorite browser. FlixQ is free so you can watch your videos without getting interrupted by any advertising. And FlixQ is private, enabling you to share videos with just your friends, family, and communities. This page will give you a short tour of FlixQ and its features.
The main FlixQ page shows you the most popular videos and makes it easy to navigate the rest of the site.
Every shared video or file has its own page. From this page, people can download and watch the movie, read and write comments about it, and view statistics. The page enables the file's owner to edit its description, control its privacy settings, and more.
The FlixQ sidecar is small, free software that silently runs on your
computer to share and download videos in the background. Install the
sidecar to share your own videos, and to enable many FlixQ features.
With the sidecar, you can download videos faster by taking advantage
of FlixQ's peer-assisted technology, right-click any file on your
computer to share it privately or publicly, and keep a library of your
downloaded files so you can watch them right in the browser at any

Community sharing brings FlixQ to college campuses. Colleges have their own cultures, so we created a college-specific FlixQ site for several schools throughout the country. Members can share videos within their community so only their friends and classmates can see them. FlixQ community sites each have their own URL, such as cornell.flixq.com, to make them easy to access. Check out the communities box on the main page to find your school's site.
Downloading
The "My downloads" page enables you to manage all your downloads. You can reprioritize active downloads, watch previously downloaded videos, and convert any video to an iPod movie to take with you.
FlixQ uses a new peer-assisted technology that makes the best use of available bandwidth. FlixQ servers cache much of the content that users share to make downloading faster. However, you should keep your sidecar running, especially when sharing your own content, so people can download directly from you as well. You can close your browser whenever you want; the sidecar will continue operating in the background, even if you close the browser in the middle of adding a new share. Sharing
Sharing on FlixQ is easy. Simply right-click any file on your computer and choose "Share on FlixQ." All your shares are listed on your "My shares" page with many options for complete control.
When you select a file to share, a window will pop up so you can type a name and description, select a thumbnail, and choose privacy settings. You can add many files at a time; a single page will enable you to customize all of them at once.
You can privately share your videos with any number of people, even if you only know their email addresses. FlixQ will email the recipients asking them to set up their own account (which is incredibly easy) so they can immediately watch them. If you often share with the same people, create a group from your profile page so you don't have to type their addresses every time.
Email was never designed for sending large files to your friends.
Even the best mail services limit file sizes to around 20MB and
require the sender to upload the entire file before others can start
downloading it. And forget about streaming videos over email.
Instead, privately share your files with FlixQ and add your friends to
their sharing lists. Your friends will receive an email instructing
them how to watch them, even if they don't have a FlixQ account!
Your profile
Once you've signed up for FlixQ, visit your personal profile page to upload a picture and say something about yourself. Your profile page also contains a control panel so you can customize FlixQ to your liking, as well as places to create custom groups and channels for sharing entire lists of videos with people you share with the most.
